Monroe Area New Home Baptist Church Suffers Severe Water Damage
Severe water loss incidents often leave a property contending with multiple effects and damages. Such was the case with a recent water emergency at the Monroe area New Home Baptist Church. This incident was caused by a break in a supply line to the kitchen area, which continued flowing through the building without discovery from Monday through Wednesday afternoon. During this time, the spread of the water and damage neared 9,000 square feet, and those responsible for the upkeep and care of the facility sought out the experienced technicians at SERVPRO.
With a significant emergency like this, it is imperative to act quickly to preserve the building structure itself as much as possible, but also to prevent more pressing concerns like mold growth from occurring. Extraction was one of the first processes that the building would see, as the standing water throughout this level of the church threatened the structural integrity of the facility.
As you can see from the Before picture above, taken in a hallway centered in the affected area, several rooms in the Monroe area New Home Baptist Church were affected by this unfortunate circumstance. Once the water was removed from these affected areas, equipment was set in place to begin the critical drying process. This application was minimal at first, but as of today, more equipment is going to get set up and used to make the process more efficient.
With the introduction of this new industry-leading equipment by our SERVPRO professional, reaching difficult to access areas can be achieved by removing portions of the wood panel walls that were directly (and indirectly) affected by the rising waters. Much in the same method of thinking, carpeted areas in specific offices also must get removed and replaced with new materials. Water wicks rapidly and just as quickly begin to degrade the absorbent materials.
The After picture showcases our "flood-cut" method on the wood paneling to remove areas that had become severely damaged by the standing water and to allow easier access to constricted spaces for drying efforts. By removing non-salvageable panels, we also decrease the overall moisture content of the corridor and decrease the drying time.
While the New Home Baptist Church might still be determining how they wish to move forward from this point, you can have this same level of dedication and determination synonymous with our company name for any emergency or restoration need you might have.
